Broadening opposition to the proposals

I've just had a thought regarding the extent of the new proposals. Actually carrying out acts of peril and perceived harm will be legal, but taking photographs of them will not. What, then, if a foreign visitor to the UK takes these photos? The images will be stored on their digital camera memory card or on the roll of film or mobile phone, and they will thus be guilty of Possession. Send the stuff back home and they could be guilty of Distribution. Their visit to the UK would be extended to three or five years...

Similarly, would a foreign businessperson with a laptop be stopped at Heathrow or Dover and the hard drive inspected to ensure that no illegal images are stored thereon? Perhaps we could emulate the Government's scare tactics and start warning visitors to the UK not to bring any digital cameras, laptops or camera-capable mobile phones with them, in case they're subjected to a search by the UK authorities for illegal images...

Silly, but no more silly than the proposals...
Doug
