Bugger. :-(

From The London Evening Standard, Wednesday 30.08.2006:

VIEWING OF VIOLENT PORN TO BE MADE ILLEGAL

Martin Bentham

Viewing extreme pornographic images depicting torture and rape is to
be made illegal.

Possession of pictures showing bestiality, necrophilia or other
seriously violent sexual behaviour will also become an offence, with a
penalty of up to three years in jail, the Home Office announced today.

The reforms will also see the maximum sentence for distributing such
material raised from three to five years.

The Home Office estimates that hundreds of websites exist featuring
rape and torture, some of them real, as well as others involving
animals and corpses.

One particular concern is that children might view such material, but
ministers also want tot halt the spread of extreme pornography because
of fears it could encourage crime and the abuse of women.

The Home Office said:" The intention is to reduce demand for such
material and to send a clear message that it has no place in society."

Under current legislation it is illegal to publish extreme pornography.

But because most of the sites involved are based outside Britain,
ministers want to outlaw possession to prevent it being viewed in
this country.

Last November a 50,000-signature petition calling for tighter laws on
violent Internet pornography was delivered to Parliament.

STOP PRESS:

Also just been announced on Channel Four news - Vernon Coaker looking
smug and and Liz Longhurst bravely tackled by the interviewer, who put
it to her that this Bill will criminalize large numbers of people who
use this material in their fantasies and would never pose a threat to
society.
