how about "Porn Laws"?

I suggest, as a very neat shorthand, that we can discuss and oppose these proposals as the new "porn laws". This is terse (unlike myself) and has an echo of the controversy surrounding the Corn Laws in the 19th Century. I'm led to believe it was a big deal at the time.

By extension, how about a quaint-sounding "Anti-Porn Law League" or APPL for short? For the name of a coalition that might include many individuals and groups that aren't coming from a BDSM position (snickr) it would be descriptive and inclusive.
The P-word, pornography, is controversial in itself. However, it's worth noting that the intention of the consultation is to specifically focus on and prohibit material "solely or primarily produced for the purpose of sexual arousal". (Para 37) This conveniently for the government gets round possible opposition from people who might be concerned that artistic, cultural, academic and journalistic freedom was under threat.

Typo: the acronym for Anti-Porn Law League would be APLL.

Although the paper itself admits that some forms of
pornography are legal and acceptable, I am not sure
that it is helpful to the cause to use the term in
presenting a view to the more general public.
Maybe if we focus on what it is that we think is wrong
about what they're doing, and in partcular the human
rights that we think are being eroded here, a better
and more persuasive image can be presented.
My own thought is the "Freedom of Fantasy Society"
which has the three-letter acronym "FFS"

It depends whether you're forming a BDSM-focused campaign or trying to
build a coalition with other non-BDSM groups. If it's the former,
talking in terms of things you support is better than talking about
the things you oppose. If the latter, the things you oppose may well
be all that unites you.
FFS is very funny though!

I hope as a spanko, rather than a BDSM devotee (here we go, labelling already (g) that what the campaign does is work through the consultation document and then do two things:-
1). Be absolutely clear that we oppose any element of legislation which seeks to ban any pornography UNLESS participants have been forced or coerced into taking part (and that by implication of course includes any children..already covered by existing law)
2) Given that they will not accept such a simple premise, demand that the government white paper spells out in precise detail exactly what acts it considers to be violent enough to ban. They have to be specific about what is NOT included in their proposals.
They have to be put through a grilling on this. The standard UK legal device of deliberate delegated ambiguity allowing Home Office and police to decide, given the mood of the times , what they will outlaw and what they won't simply will not do...this is too importnat and far reaching.

The answer as regards definitions, is that sexual portrayal of assaults occasioning serious bodily harm will be covered. This is specified in the consultation paper.
Since the definition of serious bodily harm is over 100 years old, I think it will be found to be specific enough.
