Final thought for the day

Has anybody contacted necrobabes yet? Looks like there are about 100 performers on there:

If we could get a letter signed by a significant number of them stating that they resent the inferences of the new law, I think this might even constitute 'big news'.

Ben this is an excellent idea-I'm kicking myself(though not in a sexual way!)for not thinking of it!It would counter the specious mythology spread by the supporters of this legislation-the top of the head spouting Longhurst, police and politicians have been going in for. It will also be very useful for a human rights dossier to fight them in court-they would no doubt start burbling about the real harm done to people who make the material as they do in their shoddy Consultation and Response papers. To counter this piffle with concrete evidence-especially if that evidence comes from people working for sites named by the likes of Longhurst,Coaker,Goggins and the usual suspects would be of major benefit. As these sites mentioned are/were US sites they would be well regulated and conform to the requirements of an advanced democratic society with very stringent and careful regulatory regime. An affidavit is worth 1000 opinions in court-but they would need to be notorized. I think the US owners of the sites and the performers would help-after all this threatens to take away paying customers and if the existence of a rotten law here encouraged other nations to do antything similar(as we are the one ruled by mad fascists,I doubt this will happen)it would start to bite into the profits-best do something to help stop it here will probably be their attitude!.
I bet the people who run these sites are nicer more decent individuals than these bossy control freak "jail everyone" politicians.

Most of these kinds of sites are hosted overseas and I can't see them wanting to get involved in UK issues, moving above the parapet as they do so; although I may be wrong. If you're volunteering, then it might be worth a try if it helps to disabuse the public/HO of a few falsehoods. Maybe the actresses might also be able to pass on a few tips about their incredible talents of resurrection?!

The idea of this stuff causing crime is laughable. The shower scene in Psycho was every bit as violent and much more realistic!

Hi,

Just to say I've had a go at emailing them, will let you know if I get a positive response (unless they join this group first).

If I don't hear back in a few days, it might be better if somebody more prominently associated with the backlash campaign contacts them, maybe even by phone rather than email.

And if that fails, it might be better to try and contact the performers direct.

Fingers crossed, anyway.

Emailing the likes of Necrobabes and asking if any of the performers want
to comment is an excellent idea. You may well find that some of the models
are happy to be quoted: plenty of porn workers are not just consenting
performers but articulate and indeed politically radical (remember Nina
Hartley, Annie Sprinkle etc) and an awful lot of them get very fed up with
being misrepresented as drug-addled, mentally incompetent, constantly
victimized fuckups.

Thanks for the support...

Actually I'm not sure emailing the addresses given on their site is going to work - there's a list of five with the preamble:

"We want to hear from you.
However, not ALL email addresses work for ALL users.
Please select any of these addresses, but please do NOT use them all.
We really do try very hard to help you with any problems you may have."

The thing about not all email address work for all users is rather bizarre; I think they must be rotating them because of problems with spam or abusive messages.

Anyway it's been a day and I have now worked my way down the list (in spite of their request, I have to admit I got a bit impatient!) so we shall see. If not I think contacting the performers directly through their own sites might be a better way forward.

Will keep you posted.

PS, if there are any ideas in my posts that people want to repost on the informed consent boards, feel free - it looks like it's getting a lot more traffic than here, but I'm not allowed to post till I've been subscribed for 7 days.

Cheers.

Mph. IC management have a slight but notable tendency to take sudden
screeching exceptions to folks and ban them, but if you can remain
diplomatic (even in the face of uncontrollable egos and dribbling idiocy)
it's *read* by a lot of useful people.

I've been working along those lines. I have quotes from a woman who
took part on one of the hardest videos I know of, from the time she
made them, and I'm trying to trace her.

I tried insex and BME the bodymod sites but got no reply. Insex is
now sold to a firm operating out of Europe and the original Insex guy
is carrying on with milder stuff under another name. It's good to get
actual quotes. As I said in my mails to people
>So we
>need quotes, statements from US bdsm performers to say they appeared on
>some site, that they got paid, they signed a model agreement, details
>available from the attorney listed on the site, they enjoyed doing it,
>they do the same things for fun when they aren't being paid, and they
>take no shit from anyone, not least ignorant politicos. You get the
>idea.
The 2257 regulation that came into effect a year ago in the US has
been a pain for them but a help to us. We have this cretin Salter
talking about trafficked women cand coercion. the vast majority of
this stuff is made in the US, and the 2257 law forced them to lodge
details of all the models they ever used back to the 90s with an
attorney. And, guess what, they did, with few exceptions. All their
models signed model releases just like any paid model. What a
surprise.

If you make contact, I'd much appreciate a mail, so we can coordinate
it and feed it through to the people working on press releases and
publicity. Having UK porn models speak is good, but US is better
because it's there that most of this stuff is coming from.
