Very disturbing comments from a copper.

Clearly Notts is a county free of real crimes with real victims? Strange, I thought there was an epidemic of gun crime there!

In my research I discovered that Govt agencies-and the Plod qualify as one,are liable to be found guilty of human rights abuse if they behave in contravention to the Convention on Human Rights/HRA. Thus anyone grabbed by Bliar's boys in blue would be advised to immediately protest their arrest/the ransacking of their home etc on human rights grounds. It matters not that the police are acting on the basis of legislation-what matters is,are they contravening human rights in doing what they are doing. Next step,a right old mess. Governments are not allowed to pass primary laws contravening human rights,so their agents should not be put in a position of doing things on their behalf involving the commission of human rights abuses. Therefore HMG is hoist on its own petard once it tries to enforce laws it should not have passed in the first place. The same applies to the CPS prosecuting people on a basis of human rights abuse. Well that's how I see it from reading the relevant material. They haven't attempted to do this yet-it is virgin territory-but what I have written is as far as I can see correct. They are heading for a real disaster.

Another worrying contribution from the old bill in yesterday's Torygraph. I wonder if he has any evidence at all to back up the claims he makes?

I saw this idiots letter in the paper yesteday-loaded with assumptions.. This was the only letter on the subject and there have been no editoriasl support for it. Last year when it was "announced" a number of Telegraph columnists condemned this nasty idea wholeheartedly. Outside nutters and control freaks I doubt this has muvch real support-and a lot of opposition.

Not according to the Telegraph's article on the subject (which seems to
be the only one so far to make such points)

Although there are laws against downloading child pornography on the
internet, a ban on adults viewing violent and abusive pornography is
thought to be unique in the West and is likely to be challenged under
the European human rights convention.

The Home Office consultation paper acknowledged that the source of
offensive material cannot be closed off because of the internet and the
best that can be done is to discourage interest in it.

It also accepted there was no definitive evidence about the long-term
impact of such material either generally or on those predisposed to
aberrant sexual behaviour.
