More New Labour Thought Police...

Explicit "lads mags" should be out of children's reach on the top shelf
by law, a Labour MP will tell the Commons.

Claire Curtis-Thomas, MP for Crosby, Merseyside, wants to restrict the
display of such magazines in shops.

She argues some of these magazines - the display of which is regulated
by a voluntary agreement - are "repulsive" and "degrading to women"

What is it about sex that they find so terrible that it requires a
"regulatory body" to keep us in line?

If kids are looking at these magazines it's because they have an
interest in the subject, if they didn't, they wouldn't look.

Does Claire Curtis-Thomas really think that if chidren don't see this
sort of thing it will "protect" them?

This country has one of the worst records for teenage pregnancy because
we *fail* to teach our children what they need to know about sex and
relationships *before* they need it.

She and her ilk should stop trying to impose their short-sighted morals
on the rest of society and wake up to reality.

Cheers,
Graham.

Mind you, I don't see why the likes of Zoo and Nuts are *not* on the top
shelf. Except for the fact that the editorial in those mags is far less
intelligent and informative than what you might get in Desire or FRM or
Roue - hell, Zoo and Nuts have less intelligent editorial than Horny
Housewives XXX!
