Worst case scenario

Howdy folks,
I have a simple (but pessimistic) question, I hate to ask as I've been a keem S&M browser since 96 -

If this damn law gets passed, as fast as these "democratically elected" servants can push it, whats the actual timeline for the law coming in? - as in, what's the date all this wonderful (on thw whole) material becomes illegal to own?

Does anybody know, as I have 10 years of backups to look through and probably destroy :(

not to mention a 200gig HD to sift through and direct everything to one place as well, in case it all happens.

-sigh-

expect the worst, and things can only get better...

I TRUELY hope I'm being a pessimist here!

:)

Hi. WE don't really know. We need to get an idea of how high a priority this is for the government ets.

We may have a better idea after our chat with the Home Office official later this month.

Channel 5 news just did a small thing on "evil internet material being freely available" overseas... not aimed at us as such but great timing, eh! :-/

OgreOni's pessimism is not unfounded.

When you consider our great British police force puts more manpower into arresting shopkeepers for having gollywogs in their shop displays than they do for arresting burglars. Then I'm sure you can imagine what kind of fair treatment we will get when this law passes.

And it will, the armies of Christian right wingers, and do-gooders, and womens libbers, and psychiatrists, and political correctness mind controllers etc etc etc etc will MAKE 10000% CERTAIN this law WILL be passed.

Let's face it, we have a prime minister who is dragging 'God' into the Iraq War now!

When this law does pass. EVERYONE who has ever even just visited ANY kind of S&M or 'erotic horror' or whatever site WILL get the police a-knocking forthwith! (Thanks to the new '1984' style web-monitoring going on) And of course, even if no conviction is made due to this, lives can STILL be destroyed just from the accusation alone!

We're screwed!

One can only hope, that this 'web-monitoring' information on us all does not last forever, and by the time this new law comes into force - it will have all faded away! But of course we all NEED TO STOP visiting any such sites NOW to have any hope of this!

And dont forget, the armies of Christian right wingers, do-gooders,..... etc will make sure the law gets passed, YESTERDAY!
Ie, as fast as possible.

Sorry to sound so pessimistic, if anyone can shed any positive light DO SO! I need to breathe a sigh of relief, 'asphyx' is breath removing enough thank-you.....

Oh by the way.... there is that new leader of the LibDems who has pronounced his desire to re-introduce the public freedoms Labour has taken from us.... maybe we need someone like him!

Still, I feel we're banging our heads against brick walls, could be good S&M fun under other circumstances that, but not when freedom is at stake.

Remember how the government dealt with the miners in the 80's, and the poll-tax despite MASSIVE protests, and fuel-tax despite MASSIVE protests? ALL protests went totally ignored. And the British public just turned the other cheek each time.
