our next steps

I will publish minutes from last week's meeting tomorrow, I hope

In the meantime, responses to the consultation appear to be on-line.

There are many responses that are very supportive of the government's proposals and this highlights the fact that we need to step up the cmpaign to win people over and cut through some of the confusion.

Please keep up the good work and build on all the positive developments there have been so far.

It wasn't so surprising that there would be some pro-responses from the child-protection/womens/Christian groups. Given their apparent lack of understanding of the issues, I sincerely hope nobody within the close families or friends of these folks are affected by this legislation if it becomes law!

Do you mean ALL the responses have been published somewhere on the HO website? (If so link please???)

Or do you just mean the couple of dozen or so that google returns published on various groups websites?

Responses to the consultation in Scotland are available on-line: http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Topics/Justice/criminal/17543/ExtremePornograhicMateria/Response01

As druidic so rightly said
The saddest thing I think is that fact that only 92 people in the whole of Scotland bothered to respond. Of the 66 available to read online about half of them are against the proposals, we can only hope that the 26 who want to remain private are also against the proposals.

My guess is that many of those "who wish to remain anonymous" will be opposing the law; the consultation document isn't exactly inviting to those with an interest in the material in question, after all!

I don't know if the "numbers game" is the best guide, but the 66 responses seem to show 33 in favour of the legislation, 28 against and 5 who are neutral or ambiguous. There is also a general trend for organisations to be for and individuals to be against.
We had a good response from the WS society, but also several responses from organisations with fundamental mis-understanding of the nature of the material in question. The Scottish Law Society's response in this vein is particularly worrying; you might have thought that folks of such legal erudition might have had a more enlightened approach to this!

ridiculous bureaucracry being what it is 100s of reponses to the consultatioin on extreme porn in Scotland -- and therefore probably in england and wales too -- have been rejected by an anti-spam firewall.

The Scottish Executive has apologised but said it is now too late to include these repsonses in the analysis of the consultation.....

please contact the HOme Office and check your response has been taken into consideration and let us know if it hasn't
