URGENT: Backlash Whiparound help needed

SnowdropExplodes, 25 Jan 2006 20:17:32

Well, the concert is definitely going ahead, just one or two areas in which help is definitely needed:

1/. We need to provide stewards for the event, minimum of 8. I assume that this is a role best taken by people who are good at keeping things under control, and I imagine it would also be helpful if a few of our stewards had first aid certificates. This is voluntary, but the upside is that you will get to see some or all of the show for free, depending on what circumstances arise.

2/. People to sort out publicity are URGENTLY required. I am a competent administrator and organiser, but I am hopeless at sales and advertising. What I have done so far: I have placed the event in the IC listings, I have also put messages on the IC web boards under "Clubs", "Activism" and "London" and put the same notice on my weblog. I have posted a notice on the bondage.com forum for the UK under events. I have also written to one of the organisers of the London Munch, whom I contacted a while back to try to gauge what sort of figures we might get at the event; she offered at that stage to put out publicity via the mailing list and the munch, so I have asked her to do something in that direction now. That is probably the extent of my imagination when it comes to publicity, so someone else had better take over now!

3/. I still haven't got a design for the tickets, if someone who is good at that sort of thing could put something together for me quickly, it would be a great help. Related to this, and to the publicity bit, there are as yet no designs for a flyer to go out (and I'm not sure if there's enough time to do effective distribution even if we get a design and the flyers printed - but that is a problem for publicity people to answer)

I will naturally post instantly if further areas in which I need help should arise. At present I think I have everything else under control, but I could be wrong and will scream for help if that proves to be the case!

E-mail me some info and I'll be happy to add it to my site and put it on
my next e-mail out.

Also I'm pretty sure Heather from the LFF wouldn't have any problems
with you putting flyers out at the next Fair.

Cheers,
Graham.

You need to put it on the LFS website as well - DemRed or Fuschia can help
you out there
I'm sure

DemRed is organising the flyers, so I am sure she will be on to LFF and anywhere else she can think of.

The basic info about the event is on IC, here: http://www.informedconsent.co.uk/weblogs/SnowdropExplodes/68627/ There is also a short piece about it on the main backlash website.

In addition to what's there, you can add that presenting the Whiparound ticket stub at Club Subversion later the same night will get the holder a discount on their entry fee.

If you want me to email a picture of a colour flyer (the ones we're printing are black-and-white to save costs) to add to your site or whatever, please let me know.

Speaking of pictures, I've just received a memo on IC from a person offering to do the photography of the event pro bono, so if people can think of good uses for the campaign publicity for such pictures, we can get them.

I'm sure
They already did, and it already is! Fuschia and DemRed are making a big thing
of the event through the LFS.

I've also made the same appeal for volunteers on their forums.

Still, the more poeple there are spreading the word, the more likely it is that the event will be a success.

Or just post a batch of flyers to me (and/or Graham) and we will slap them
on our
respective stalls at the next LFF, which is on Feb 12th. Email me privately
for my address
if you wish.

Might one ask why the event seems not to have been mentioned in the
weekly posting of events from Informed Consent?

That is a question for Tanos, I think, because the event is definitely in the events listings on the IC website, with the following details (and a few more).

Location: Conway Hall, 25 Red Lion Square, London
Start time: 8pm

Maybe it will be in next week's posting, seeing as it is a week on Saturday?

Maybe Paul has his emailed list set to events being held within a
certain radius of his hometown? I for instance only get, because that is
what I requested, details within 60 miles of my Post Code!

No, nor did I know one *could* do that.

I get everything including the events at Rapture which, for some reason,
I always seem to read as "Rupture". Am I reading more into it than,
perhaps, I should? ;-)
