Good, in as much as he seems to broadly agree with my point of view. Bad, in as much as he is quite downbeat about the prospects of what Euro law can do for us. The last sentence is also a bit tantalising...

Thank you very much for your email.
I have much sympathy with what you say about the need for the state not to
interfere in personal decisions about sexual practice as long as no crime is
being committed in the production of the pornography.
However, I can assure you that this is not really a matter within the
purview of the European Parliament. The EU has no competence in these
matters. The Charter of Fundamental Rights (which, alas, is not binding
without the Constitution) would apply only if it was directly and
specifically breached by UK law.
We should watch the development of this UK law to ensure that this does not
in fact become the case.
