Is history repeating itself

Having just watched an archive video of the Channel 4 documentary on the "video nasties" histeria of the early to mid 1980s I am becoming aware of history repeating itself. The whole hoohah had the home office behind it seems even though the Mary Blighthouse/daily mail brigade did a lot of self righteous screaming. I feel that the HO are determined to stifle the demand for so called "extreme porn" and nothing we do or say will make much difference to their mind set. As for HM Customs who are probably behind the proposed banned list, they have scant regard for European law or human rights and having been a law unto themselves for many a hundred years will strive to keep themselves that way God save the Queen etc etc.
There may be a element HO obfuscation going on too so they can back down a bit and say "hey aren't we being reasonable" They'll only criminalise such and such or so and so and the public will accept it they will have got their way. Machiavelli is alive and well in the Home Office mark my words.
I think those of us with off centre erotic tastes are in for an unpleasant time in good ol' Blighty in the next few years.
