It isn't enough

Sorry sitting back and allowing "a few trusted individuals" to fight our case isn't good enough.
Firstly, we won't be able to collect funds of any size. We will make ourselves a complete laughing stock which frankly will not be taken seriously by anybody.
Lastly, there will be those who pretend to be in our ranks and will be more than happy for us to remain a talking shop and chatter all the way to the new legislation is on the statue books.
Let's not be fooled not everybody on this group has good intentions.

The trusted individyuals are holding the pursestrings,
not fighting the case alone.

I find it hard to believe that our internal
organisation will matter that much to them. We are
getting ourselves organised quite nicely, it seems,
and taking it one step at a time. Fundraising seems
to be progressing; we are getting people responding to
the consultation paper (which has to be the absolute
priority at the moment); we are just starting to get
organised for our public campaign to the vanilla
world.

Again, we have debated these points, and I don't think
there is any danger of this group being reduced to a
mere talking shop any time soon. Activity is taking
place, DemRed is organising a film or two for
publicity purposes, people are writing to the
consultation, to their MPs and to various media
organisations, others are organising fundraising
events, we're getting this legal opinion from a
leading QC.
In short, things are happening, things are being
planned to happen, and the talking is not holding us
back one jot.

Hi Silver,
If you have been following the posts here and on IC you will know I agree with some of your ideas, particularly the need to fundraise and get aggressive with the biggest and most professional campaign we can, involving the general public.
Not so much with your opinions that BDSM wont get anywhere though..... the BDSM case is far stronger than you think.
Please be aware that almost everything you suggest here has already been debated, and either actioned, or dismissed as technically unworkable. (and probably more than you think is being actioned, in some form or another)
There are a lot of motivated and talented people working on various aspects of the campaign behind the scenes, including some varient of most of what you have suggested.
There are many specific items that are not suitable to be discussed in such a public forum, mostly because we wouldn't want to tip our hand to the opposition (govt and JLT) before we have a chance to play it.

This is why the non public workgroups exist.
