I would agree with the sentiment of some others that the tangents or bickering of some of the regular posters can be a bit offputting to newbies.

I am sure the content of these posts is relevant or interesting to the people concerned, but couldn't it better be done through private email exchanges?

Perhaps this has always occurred but it's just a lot more visible now due to the low numbers of posts?

When we are pushing submission day so hard, actively trying to get new people to log on and get involved here, and actually starting to get some return on the PR front, other organisations linking to us, contacts being made with a lot of new people, etc, etc, it would probably be good to be as focused and reasonable as possible in the public forums.

And perhaps some regular progress updates would be very useful in helping the new folks get up to speed and comfortable with our efforts.
