Williams Report

It seems we need a copy of the

Report of the Committee on Obscenity and Film Censorship 1979, chaired by
Sir Bernard Williams (Published 1983?) ISBN 010 177720 5

I think there's every chance that it's available through Inter-Library
Loans. I wouldn't bother with your local branch library but someone with
access to an academic library will no doubt find them more competent and
motivated to deal with it.

Who's got access to a college library and would try to order it? Grant?
Morgarth?

There's a copy of the _abridgement_ on sale for about £17. I think
Backlash could probably run to that. Do we want to order it?

Also a copy of the full weighty tome, but it's a) in Australia and b) would
cost at least as much as a quote of £46 we have for a photocopy.

I think the abdridgement might be almost as good as the full thing, suggest
we buy it for 17 quid and also pursue the full one through a library.

I was trying to find a copy of the book written on the basis of the Williams
report,
PORNOGRAPHY & POLITICS
> The Williams Committee in Retrospect
> Author: A.W.B. Simpsom
> ISBN 0 08 039156 7
> Waterlow Publishers Ltd 1983
but it seems to be out of print and is not even traceable on Amazon. Any
ideas?

We can get it for $11.69 plus airmail from the US

What about the abridgement? Shall I order that?

Let's have a few votes before I go spending backlash money. I'm sure we
can justify it but it's not for me to decide on my own. If I hear nothing
by the morning I'll consider that means go ahead.

I can also scan and OCR the juicy bits but you'll have to trust my
judgement. If Amelie or someone else needs them I'll have to post them on
after that.

I think that would be a good idea, and would hope it wouldn't be a problem with anyone.

I would order it asap....

If anyone objects, I'd be happy to cover $11.69.
