press release for BDSM audiences

Backlash Press Release 17/10/05
The Home Office and Scottish Executive have begun a consultation process on plans to strengthen the criminal law to make it illegal to view or possess images of sexual violence, downloaded from the internet.
The consultation document for the proposed legislation is frighteningly vague and broad in scope, and full of inaccuracies, misleading statements and contradictions.
If allowed to pass, legislation could result in criminalising hundreds of thousands of ordinary people who would risk up to three years in jail and being placed on the sex offender’s registry simply for possessing certain types of erotic images showing consenting adults.
These proposals not only compromise Free Speech and our fundamental Human Rights, but are a particular threat to the BDSM community as puritanical government ministers seek once again to criminalise the expression of our sexuality.
By wrongfully associating images of mainstream consensual BDSM with images of necrophilia and bestiality, and drawing comparisons with paedophilia, the government is once again challenging our right to express ourselves and disingenuously attempting to vilify us in the eyes of the wider public.
Backlash was formed to challenge this attack and to advise those who believe in diversity and acceptance in society on how to write to their MP's and to make their own submissions to the consultation process.
It is supported by Feminists against Censorship, Unfettered, Ofwatch, SM Dykes Manchester, SM Dykes London ad South East, the Libertarian Alliance and the Sexual Freedom Coalition.

Obviously I support this wording, but would also add---
As a legitimate Sexual Minority, the BDSM community should have the same rights to view erotic images as those of any other sexual orientation, and these proposals would clearly be discriminatory and regressive in nature.
Can anyone else think of a better way to word this paragraph?

Just a small point. It should be SM Dykes Manchester. I think someone (Yaz?) has already pointed out that there is no such group as SM Dykes.
