Hi Carla,
I can't really advise you on fundraising - can someone else help? - but I do still have a few flyers left if you'd like them for distributing in Glasgow?
It's good to see you here. :-)

I would suggest, as you are pretty much the first person who has volunteered in this area (as opposed to just saying it is a good idea) that this can be as much or as little your oyster as you wish.
If you wish to be 'the fundraiser'...then I suspect you might just have appointed yourself as such. Although others may have interest in assisting.
But really tis as big or as small a role as you wish to make it.
Regards,
M

Hi Carla,
Actually, I think fundraising was mentioned briefly by the education group. I believe this group is invitation only so you'd need to let the moderator know if you'd like to access the smartgroup. I think that's Adrian.
In case you don't know, there are several smaller subgroups of backlash - education, lobbying, research and press (?)
To Everyone.
Would it be worth having a separate group for fundraising? Or would that just make things more complicated than they already are? If we're looking to raise several thousand pounds eventually, do we really need to take fundraising more seriously?

Probably yes to both. With advance agreement on where any surplus will be distributed. I would propose Spanner.
If reasonably serious amounts of money are going to change hands then need to set up some formal protection. Presumably Unfettered bank account requires 2 sigs, but maybe there should be a Backlash bank account requiring sigs from members of 2 diff organizations within the umbrella group, if that's practical, or even worthwhile. I don't know.

I'll send Carla an invite to the education smartgroup.
I can start a fundraising group but there's no need if itr's just Carla!
In fact, the edu group will be doing a fair but of fundraising as a part of
our job as we see it is to get people out to munches talking for 5 minutes
about what we're about and asking for the dosh. So Carla why don't you
come to the edu group for now and if we need to spin it off as a separate
group that will be good.
Adrian
