Group settings

I have put it so that members email addresses are not visible to others, and also so that files can not be posted in emails.

Does that seem the best option?

That seems perfect. Anyone who wants their email address known can just
place it in their sig :)

As far as email addresses go, I think those of us who want to
communicate directly anyway have other ways of doing it so fine.

As a point of information - smartgroup seems confused :( I was told that
"thunder@" already is a smartgroup member (which is right) and I entered
my password and told it was wrong - I asked to have my password emailed
to me and , as I thought, it was the right one but it refused time and
time again to accept it so I registered as "kinkfest@" - I hope this is
not going to be a sign of the future :(

Please be aware that people posting here by e-mail will have their addresses visible to people receiving messages by e-mail will have their addresses visible. They may not show up on the website but anyone who copies someone else's post can easily include addresses of quoted posts.

I've posted this via the web interface to see whether my address shows up.

Also I had the same problem as Thunder when trying to post - it asks and then rejects your correct login details. It worked by clicking on Login and logging in from there, then going back to the message and replying.

For all its faults, Yahoo! Groups really do this better :/

But they have kicked lots of BDSM related groups without warning...

With respect, can we not get embroiled about a discussion which sort of
list/forum format to use? It's like a bit of a bad joke - how many BDSMers does
it take to oppose an attack on our rights?

120 to start with just to argue the toss about whether to use yahoo or smart
groups.. :-)

Please can people try to stay on topic? Otherwise mailboxes will fill up
with rubbish and people will start to unsubscribe. This group is not moderated,
but if it starts filling up with rubbish, maybe we should reconsider.

Quite so. Historically attempting to get a group of
BDSMrs to cooperate is akin to herding cats. There is
a tendancy to focus on 'my little bit' in the manner
of the minor tribal chiefs and self interest
eventually dissolves the glue that holds the 'body
politic' together.

The very dynamic that enables D/s to function is
counter productive to large scale cooperative working.
Now is the time to put aside personality differences,
back burner petty self interests, inflated ego and all
of the other internal matters including over
preoccupation with minutiae.

The barbarian is at the gate. The colour of the paint
on the gate is irrelevant - the question is "Will the
gate hold and what do we collectively need to do to
try and save the Citadel!"

In the words attributed to Willam Teach "If we do not
hang together we shall surely all hang seperately" -
let's stay focussed here.

Kind regards
Laurence
