At the risk of seeming egotistical, I've added this link to the web board post on Informed Consent that I created as a central "index" to all the contributions I made on my weblog: I posted a copy of the 4-page letter I've written to the consultation, a longer version of the "the consultation paper condensed" message I posted here, and an assessment of how effective a letter-writing campaign might be, based on looking at what has happened with other major consultation papers.
I'll add here that it is VERY IMPORTANT not to use form letters from a single source. Such things tend to be ignored after the first few have been read, and have little impact. For maximum impact, it is better that everyone write their own letters, making the points in their own way.

I concur. I've already drafted a letter in my own words to send to my MP.
However, I intend to wait and see what consensus emerges on our strategic response before sending it. One thing I'd like to be clear about, for example, is whether to tackle the issue on a general civil liberties level or focus more specifically on how it affects consensual bdsm-ers.

Well, at this stage I would say that a letter direct
to the Consultation is a much better bet, for the
reasons I outlined in my blog on the effectiveness of
a letter-writing campaign (follow the links to find
that resource).
If you do do that, it is a very good idea also to fill
in responses to the consultation questions.

In my own letter to the commission, I addressed both
approaches.
